Mrs. Hrico was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Coitsville, a daughter of the late John Michael Holecko and Mary Krotky Holecko. She grew up in North Jackson and moved to Youngstown in 1942. After attending Youngstown University she moved to Cleveland, where she worked as a welder for the World War II war effort. After the war she returned home and married Andrew W. Hricko on June 1, 1946. She worked a few years at Sears and later as a teaching aide at Adams Elementary School in Youngstown. She was a member of Saint Matthias Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, its Infant Jesus of Prague Guild, and the Golden Echoes Senior Citizens at the Church. She was also a member of the Retired Officers Association, Ladies Club, and the National Slovak Catholic Sokols Lodge 17. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, and belonged to two lifelong card clubs. She was an active member of the A.A.R.P. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her four sons, Daniel (Jean) of Wadsworth, Ohio, John (Sue) of Ravenna, Thomas (Kris) of Campbell, Rich (Dottie) of Youngstown; daughter, Mary (Tom) Pitko of Austintown; and sister, Mrs. Mildred Gran of Youngstown. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, David, Dana, Kristin, Julie, Matthew, Steven, Andrew, Thomas, Sarah, and great-grandchildren, Daniel, Julie Ann, Sadid, Jimmy, and Sophia. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away Sept. 9, 1992; brothers, John, Michael, Stephen, Joseph; sister, Mary Oras; and granddaughter, Kimberly.
The family requests that material contributions be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association. Services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Kubina Yuhasz Funeral Home, Boardman Chapel, 5925 Market St., and at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Matthias Church. Friends may call at the funeral home TODAY from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 4:45 p.m.
