Baldwin

Frank, 84, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Hospice Care Center on April 17, 2004, having bravely fought cancer for several years.

Frank was born in Flint, Michigan on Feb. 20, 1920, the sixth of ten children. He left Waynesburg College to be come an ace Corsair pilot in the South Pacific during World War II, rising to the rank of Major and ultimately inducted into the Marine Corps Hall of Fame. Their four children, Tim, Linda, Jane, and Greg were called to his bedside where Hospice provided excellent final care. Frank is survived by brothers, John, Dave, Paul, Bill, and sister, Virginia Ortman. He leaves six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with fond memories of "Papa/Grand pa".

As my brother, Greg, has said, thanks to all who have expressed their sentiments about Dad. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. As comfort to our family, we have not lost Dad....we KNOW where he is and there's no better place he could be. Now that he is absent in body, he is, truly, present with the Lord. As was so eloquently stated in his eulogy, "Thanks, Dad, for being "The Wind Beneath Our Wings"! I love you! I miss you! I'll see you again. Your Janie-girl

I want to Thank all you wonderful folks for your kind words to our Family.

In many ways my Dad was my life & I've quickly learned Nothing Is The Same without him here with us...Nothing at all.

I Love you Dad and as I promised you "I'll be there with you today, tomorrow, & forever".

To my beloved Mother I say...No two people have ever been "one" so completely. I know how you hurt but I know how strong your faith is. You know he's with Jesus and free from all pain. Dad is, as he promised, "waiting on the bench." May God hold you safely in His hands each and every day of your life. I love you so very much!

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to Frank's family for their loss.

One of my favorite squadron mates while flying with him in VMF221, "Baldy" was a pilot "par excellance". He loved to fly and he explained his eagerness to volunteer for missions by saying he got sea sick while on our carrier, the Bunker Hill, but when he was flying he was fine. Semper Fi "Yank".

I offer condolences on behalf of myself and the Goulding family. Mr. Baldwin was a great friend to my grandfather (Al Goulding) and I am sure they are together at this moment having great fun reliving their antics. What great stories they had to tell ... I still enjoy hearing them to this day! What a wonderful 84 years he had....he really knew how to live! I had the pleasure of visiting with him last fall, and he made a wonderful impression on my 8 year old son. Such a sweet man. I know you all must be very proud of the man he was and will miss him terribly. My prayers are with you.

Reb, Tim, Linda, Janie and Greg, I am so very sorry to hear about Yank. Jeff also sends his hugs and sympaties, as does Nancy. Gretch and I will see you soon. I know dad greeted Yank, thats for sure. They are probably playing golf again right now ;o) Anyhow, Reb, I was happy to hear all the family was able to be there.

My mind has been going over a lifetime of fun memories and tender moments as well. Like looking through a photo album, way back to Indian Guides days! :o)

We have been praying for Yank in church too for quite a while now. I will continue prayers for you too Reb as you are very dear to us all, as was Yank. See you soon.

Love you, Barbie

"Yank" had a truly gentle, loving spirit. He left an impression on my heart, which I will always hold dear. I only wish I could've come to know him sooner in my life. We will be forever thankful, for the wonderful guidance and imprint he left on our "son" Michael and daughter Emilee, who cherished him. We are all better people because he touched our lives. Our deepest sympathies to you "Reb" on the loss of your soulmate. Thank you for sharing him with us....
