Fred H. Emery, Jr.

Fred H. Emery Jr., age 88, of Hudson, formerly of Birmingham, Ohio and Aurora, Ohio, beloved husband of Dorisjane "DJ" (nee Platell); dear father of Nancy (Jim) Kimnach, Tim (Marlene) Emery and Cindy Hoffmann; loving grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of 12; brother of John-deceased and David Emery, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016.

Fred was a member of the Aurora Fire Department starting in 1945 as a junior fireman. In 1947, he became regular fireman, then Captain in 1953 and first assistant Chief from 1953 until his retirement in 1977. He was an electrical contractor and partner in S and E Electric from 1964 until retiring in 1977. After retiring he moved to a farm in southern Ohio where he was a Washington Township Trustee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Area, 70 W. Streetsboro St. #201, Hudson, Ohio 44236 or Harbor Light Hospice, 25 S. Main Street #7, Munroe Falls, Ohio 44262. The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at JOHNSON-ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 19 East Main Street (on the square), Hudson Ohio, 330-650-4181, where a procession will form Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. and process to Aurora Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service, followed by a memorial service at 12 noon at Laurel Lake Serenity Chapel, 200 Laurel Lake Dr., Hudson, Ohio 44236. www.johnsonromito.com
