Dr. Harry H. Fall

Dr. Harry H. Fall died peacefully at the age of 83 on March 12, 2004, after a long illness.

Harry was born in Lucenec, Czechoslovakia, and immigrated to the United States when he was 10 months old with his Hungarian mother, Julia Gartner Fall, and Austrian father, Ernest Fall. Harry grew up in Allentown, Pa., with his parents and sister, Rose. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Harry put himself through school and graduated from Penn State in 1950 with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry. Harry resided in the Akron area since 1957 and worked as a research chemist at Goodyear Tire & Rubber. He was president of the American Chemical Society. Harry was also an accomplished flutist, playing at local churches, in the Doctors' Orchestra, and teaching high-school students his craft. Harry was an avid chess and bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs in the Akron area. Anyone who knew Harry knew that he was always up for the next challenge.

Harry will be greatly missed by his three loving daughters, Karen (Kitty) Ormsby of Northfield, Ohio, an insurance underwriter, Marcia Childs of Reston, Va., an R.N., and Lisbeth Fall of San Francisco, Calif., a software consultant.

Harry will be buried come Spring alongside his loving wife of 42 years, Agnes (Aggie) Jett Fall, in Fredericksburg, Va., where they met, fell in love, and were married.

Special thanks are extended to the caring staffs at Maison Aine and the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service. Donations may be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service at 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333.

Dear Liz,

I knew your father throught your loving eyes and the the stories you have told me of your childhood, with your sisters. I know he was a kind, considerate and caring father, husband and human being, because you are kind and considerate of others. I offer you and your sisters my deepest sympathy, but your father, he is now with the woman he loved for 42 years, your Mom. God bless you all.

Dear Kitty, Marsha, and Liz,

We want to say how sorry we are to learn of your father's death. He was certainly one of a kind and never at a loss for words or a smile.

I met your Dad while he was a blood donor at Goodyear over 25 years ago. He and I shared many lively conversations. Also,as a family we enjoyed his stories and his friendship when he came to babysit with his beloved Aggie.

I am sorry that we have lost touch since we moved to Colorado.

Please accept our deepest sympathy,

Mary, Bob, Drew, and Sean Pinkney

Dear Liz,

I did not know your beloved father, except through your loving eyes. Judging by that and by the wonderful daughter he raised, he must indeed have been a very special man. May you find comfort in the memories of the many good times you shared with him.

Love,

Barbara

Dear Kitty, Marcia and Liz,

Your dad was such a nice and patient man. He obviously loved the flute and was so wonderful to share his skills with all of us who took lessons. I still think of him playing the flute at my wedding. My best wishes to all of you. Love, Barb
