Helen Remis

Helen Marie Remis, of Miami, Okla., formerly of Akron, Ohio, died on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Freeman Health Center in Joplin, Mo., following a short illness. She was 89.

Helen was born September 10, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, to Harold and Bessie (Smith) Pritchard. She graduated from South High School in Akron in 1945. She married Frank Remis on May 24, 1952; he preceded her in death on February 11, 2004. They moved to Miami, Okla., in 1965. She worked for B.F. Goodrich until her retirement in 1985.

Helen is survived by four brothers, John Pritchard of Barberton, Ohio, Lawrence Pritchard of Uniontown, Ohio, George Pritchard of Akron, Ohio, and James Pritchard (Deborah) of Dresden, Ohio; one sister, Patricia Jones of Tallmadge, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Catherine Pritchard of Parma, Ohio. She is also survived by special friends, Doug and MaryAnne Nutting of Afton, Okla. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Pritchard.

A funeral mass was held on December 5, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami, Okla. A Vigil will be held on December 10, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
