James Stoffer Obituary
James L. Stoffer, 82, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster.
Born on April 19, 1935 in Shelby, Ohio to Norman and Grace (Quiggley) Stoffer, he later graduated from Hower Vocational School in Akron in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the 5th Army Flight detachment working on helicopters and planes.
He married Mary Lou Pulskamp on September 24, 1955 and blessed for 62 years.
Jim also worked for Nichols Bakery, then for Borden Milk Co.; Reiter Dairy and Harter Dairy.
Later he worked in retail with Montgomery Wards and then with Miracle Mart. In 1973, he and his family moved from Akron to Wooster where he then worked as Assistant Manager for McDonald's.
He then worked at the College of Wooster until he retired in 1997.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Steve (Sharon) Stoffer of Apple Creek, Theresa (Richard) Roland of Millersburg, Karen Russell of Orrville, Michele (Michael) Nussbaum of Cincinnati, Jim (Sharon) Stoffer of Orrville, Kevin (Jody) Stoffer of Wooster, Marion (David) Cox of Wooster, Loren (Pam) Stoffer of Delaware, Ohio, and Valerie (Kenton) Kirkland of North Canton; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster. Following the services, family and friends will go in procession to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. The committal service will take place at 12:30 at the cemetery.
The church and family has invited everyone back to the church at 2 p.m. for a time of visitation and food.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either: St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, OH 44691 or Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691. Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.
