Jay O'Neal Obituary
PORTAGE LAKES -- Jay M. "Mickey" O'Neal, age 62, passed away July 17, 2014.
Born in Canton, he lived in the Akron area and Chattanooga, Tenn. most of his life and was owner of Pro Wire & Sound. Mickey was also a Music Pastor and was known as an accomplished vocalist. He attended Grace Bible Church, Portage Community Chapel and Grace Baptist Church (Tennessee).
Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen O'Neal; and sister, Delphene Reigle; he is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cheryl; sons, Lammoth O'Neal of Fayetteville, N.C. and Josh (Jessica) Selden of Portage Lakes; daughters, Jaymeca O'Neal of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Jessica (Scott) Hosfeld of Green; ten grandchildren; brother, Joe (Kay) O'Neal of Farmington, N.M. and Ken (Marilyn) of Illinois; sisters, Ruth (Tom) Rauber of Suffield and Dolly Robinson of Rootstown.
Mickey's family would like to thank Dr. Roger Chaffee for his many years of devoted care.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Barry Shahan officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.

I would like to add to the condolence I sent earlier in order to help identify who I am. Perhaps Joe and Ken will remember me from their Dad's church in Cottage Grove many years ago. I used to spend Sundays at their house and remember Mickey as just a little boy whom I loved very much. I'm so sorry for your loss. God Bless

Cheryl and family, We wish we could be with you at this time, but know that our hearts and prayers will be there with you. There is a song the Gaithers sing called "What Are They Doing In Heaven." Well, Mickey has found out, and knowing Mickey, he is enjoying every moment of it all! And some day we will join him in Heaven's Jubilee.....and who knows - Mickey may be leading the choir!

Cheryl, We are so sorry for you your loss! We have many great great memories of Mickey especially from the time we worked together at camp Carl. Mickey always made me laugh, he always had stories to tell. We are in South Carolina or we would attend his calling hours.. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days. At least we know without a doubt that Mickey is in heaven with a new body, no pain and I'm sure he is singing!
