Joan Ruquet Obituary
Joan E. (Muir) Ruquet has gone home to rest on October 18, 2015 after a long, brave fight with pancreatic cancer.
A joyful and sweet soul, she is loved and remembered by many for her kind heart and generous smile. A devoted Catholic, Joan was a parishioner of St. Mary in Akron, Ohio, and previously St. Timothy in Lady Lake, Fla. and St. Mark in Shoreham, N.Y.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margurite Muir. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Donald; children, Linda (Tony) Crookston and James Ruquet (Ms. Shawn McClelland); grandchildren, Conrad (Jennifer) Crookston, A.J. (Stephanie) Crookston, Joan Crookston, Barbara (Jim) Schneider, and Matthew Ruquet; great-grandchildren, Conrad, Gabriel, Bear, and Damon; brothers, Bill and Ernie Muir; as well as many loving sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a large array of friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives TODAY, October 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 750 S. Main St. in Akron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated TOMMORROW, Thursday, October 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary, with visitation for one hour prior, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice of Summa, 1077 Gorge Blvd., P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44310. Details for the New York memorial service will be announced.
May God grant her eternal rest; you will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known you.

Linda and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. She is now watching over you from a place with no pain. She was an extraordinary woman. It was my pleasure to have known her. My prayers are with all of you.
I am sorry that I cannot attend any of the services. But I am there in spirit and my thoughts.
She will be deeply missed.

Linda, Mr. Ruquet, and family - I was so glad I got to know Mrs. Ruquet. Even when it had been months since I saw her, she always remembered me and we picked up where we left off. She was always so joyful and fun. And elegant - always beautiful. She was the mother I wish I had. She was a blessing to everyone she touched. I know it was a great comfort for her to be with Linda and all of you. God bless you all.
