THEN AND NOW
Joseph L. Polichena, 95, of Ravenna passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna. Being a lifelong resident, Joe was born November 24, 1922 in Ravenna to the late Rocco and Francis (LaFatch) Polichena.
He was retired as the owner of the former Polichena Motors in Ravenna, a member Immaculate Conception Church, the Ravenna Elks and Italian American Club. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II as a paratrooper.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery in October of 2016; his daughter-in-law, Mary in 2017; his siblings, Rocco, Jr., Nicholas, James, Anthony and Elizabeth DeAngelas. Survivors include his loving wife, Josephine (Favazzo) Polichena whom he married September 7, 1946; his daughter, Jody (John "Mick") Sova of Cortland; his grandchildren, JJ (Mikell Riddle) Polichena, Lissa (Tim) Reedy, Carrie (Brian) Reedy, Katrina (Dan) Peyton, Erin (Karoly) Bozan, David (Sarah Ulam) Sova, Cindy Lukanec; his great grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, Joey, Alyssa, Jacob, Gavin, Ella, Grace, Griffin, Braden, Justin; his siblings, Carmella DiAugustino, Russ Polichena, Leonard Polichena, Frank Polichena and Francis Polichena; and many loving relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be TONIGHT TUESDAY, October 9, 2018 6 to 8 p.m. at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna with Father William Kraynak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna, Ohio. The family would like to thank the nurse's, doctor's and the staff at Longmeadow Care Center for the wonderful care of their husband and father.
