Kevin Curry

Kevin Curry, 60, died on Sept. 18, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.

He was born in Akron on Aug. 1, 1954 to parents, Patricia (Donovan) Curry and William Curry. He graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School, class of 1973. A lifelong resident of Akron, he worked for Telxon and later Aironet.

Kevin was a very funny guy and could make his family and friends laugh no matter the circumstance. He had the best comic timing, the likes of which we will never see again. A lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, he enjoyed watching the games with his niece, as they did so many times through the years. He was devoted to his beloved kitties, Norma Jean and Betty Joan. Kevin was a gardener, tending to his beautiful burning bushes at his home in Akron, and an ocean lover, having traveled several times to North Carolina's Outer Banks. A loving son, nephew, brother, and uncle, Kevin will be especially missed by his brother and brother-in-law, with whom he lived for the last few months of his life, and his niece. The family memories made during Kevin's final months will be cherished always.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maurita Curry (Feb. 12, 2014); aunts, Magdalen Donovan, Marcelline Donovan; and uncle and aunt, Andrew (Dorine) Donovan. He will be deeply missed by his brother and brother-in-law, Patrick (Craig Myers) Curry of Columbus; niece, Jolie Curry (Monica Schuette) of Columbus; cousin, Cheryl (Robert, deceased) Johnson of Cincinnati; and many other loving friends and relatives.

Cremation has taken place, per Kevin's wishes. A memorial service will be held at Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 811 Grant St., Akron, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to services at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 12:15 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, 4915 St. Elmo Ave., Suite 202, Bethesda, MD 20814 or at www.bcan.org.
