Marie Louise Rodeman (Kilway)

Marie Louise Rodeman, age 92, passed away May 9, 2017 at her home in Toledo. She was born July 28, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to Warren P. Kilway, M.D. and Marie Catherine (Labbe) Kilway.

She was a graduate of St. Vincent High School in Akron and Marygrove College in Detroit, Mich. with a Bachelor's Degree in Science. Marie started and operated one of the first grade school cafeterias in Akron, Ohio at St. Martha's Grade School until she married in 1949. She then focused on being a wife and mother. After the family moved to Toledo in 1960, Marie later worked part-time as a sales associate at LaSalle's, Macy's and Elder Beerman.

Marie was very involved in her community specifically with the Gesu Parents Club, Gesu Altar Society, Bridge Club, Garden Club, St. Francis Chappius, and Notre Dame Parents Club.

She loved traveling, spending time with her grandkids during "Nana's weekends", and was an avid sports fan, (Go Blue!).

Marie is survived by her children, John (Joanne) of Westland, Mich., Virginia, Timothy, Patrick of Lawton, Mich., Terrence (Roberta) of Columbus, Ohio, and Kevin (Linda) of Grand Ledge, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Kilway; brother, Jack (Charlene) Kilway of Akron, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Doris Kilway of Akron, Ohio and Neoma Kilway of Portage, Mich.; brother-in-law, Jerry Rodeman of Cement City, Mich.; and special neighbors, William and Fran O'Neal. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Rodeman; parents, Warren P. Kilway, M.D. and Marie C. Kilway; daughter-in-law, Marie A. Rodeman; brothers, W. Paul Kilway, M.D., Richard Edward Kilway, James B. Kilway, M.D.; and sister, Virginia Curry.

Visitation will be Friday, May 12, 2017 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, Ohio, with prayers beginning in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
