Marilyn Archer Obituary

Marilyn Jean Archer, 90, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 20, 2012 at her daughter's residence.

She was born September 24, 1922 in Akron, Ohio to John and Nina (Childers) Bland. A graduate of South High School and the Hammel Actual Business College, she retired from The University of Akron and was a volunteer for several years at the Hospice Care Center of Summit County. She was a member of the William Street United Methodist Church in Delaware and enjoyed a long life of spiritual devotion. She will be remembered by many family and friends including those at Austin Manor on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Chuck (Mary) of Zanesville, Ohio; daughter, Cheryl (Brent) Smart of Delaware; brother, Charles (Janet) Bland of Tallmadge, Ohio; grandchildren, Colin and Kylie Archer and their mother Joyce of Zanesville; favored nieces and nephews, Carla, Mark, Cathy, David, John, Glenn Jr., Debbie, and Heather; stepdaughter, Liz (Rick) Bennett; stepgrandchildren, Meschelle, Tonya, Becky, Paul, Keeley, Matt, and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Clarence Archer and second husband, Will Barrett, and a brother, George 'Bill" Bland.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 2 p.m. until time of funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 26th at 11 a.m. in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery chapel, 2569 Romig Road, Akron, Ohio 44320. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the William Street United Methodist Church, 28 W. William St., Delaware, Ohio 43015 or HomeReach Hospice, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, Ohio 43015. The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Archer family and condolences may be expressed and memories may be shared by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.

The Austin Manor community was sad to hear of Mrs. Archer's passing. Jean was a friend, a great neighbor and an intregal part of our community. She will be greatly missed.
