Madeline Hawkins Obituary
Madeline Wright Hawkins, 88, of Amherst, and formerly of Forest, passed on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. For 58 years, she was the wife of the late Floyd Nelson Hawkins, who passed on Jan. 8, 1999.
Born April 30, 1918, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Randolph Wright and the late Mattie Londeree Wright. Mrs. Hawkins was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church and had retired from Imperial Reading.
She is survived by one daughter, Muriel H. Riley and husband, James Lee, of Evington; two granddaughters, Lynn R. Saunders and husband, Hubert B. (Junior), of Evington, and Deanna R. Storey and husband, Robert A. (Bobby), of Rustburg; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Storey and her fiancé, Tyler Lovelace, Rachel Saunders, Rebecca Saunders and Adam Storey; and one brother, Hershel Wright of North Wilkesboro, N.C.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by Dr. Maurice T. McCarthy Jr. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her granddaughter Deanna, 348 Greendale Drive, Rustburg.
