Mary E. Sanders

Our beloved Mary Edith Harvey Sanders passed away on September 20, 2018. Born in Niagara Falls, New York on the twelfth day of March 1928, Mary lived in several states during her formative years. She was among the 1946 graduating class of Beaver High School in Beaver, Pennsylvania. After graduation she attended Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland School of Art. Upon graduation she married David L. Sanders and moved to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In 1952 they bought their first home and in 1953 began to raise a family. Mary cherished both family and friends. She had a passion for art, nature, education and travel. These interests led her on varied paths: including teaching in both private and academic settings, continued personal education, membership in numerous art organizations, and world travel. She was an accomplished artist who received many art awards. Mary is survived by daughters, Diane and Lisa Sanders; granddaughters, Margaret and Kelsey Hauser; and extended family, Jon Waybright. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Sanders; parents, Kelsey and Mary Harvey; and other family members, David, Robert and Margaret Sanders. Services will be held in the Chapel of the United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls at 10:00 a.m. on October 24th, 2018. Her friends and family are cordially invited to a luncheon celebrating her life at the Woman's City Club in Akron at 12:00 p.m. following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center would be greatly appreciated. (McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, Cuyahoga Falls)
