So much of our lives are focused on “our lives”, but Aunt Mary Ann invested her life, her time, love and attention on others. She raised seven children (an incredible accomplishment!) and she cared for so many others in her career at the St Edward Nursing Home. She was, in many ways, the Bender/Sandman family historian. I cherish the small family photo album she put together so I would know a little of my grandparents, my great aunts and uncles, and the stories she told me about being a teenager and going to the record store downtown Akron. Aunt Mary Ann lived a life of love and focus on other people, a tremendous example for all of us. I was blessed to have known the love of Aunt Mary Ann. We miss you and know you are with the Lord!

Aunt MaryAnn always so very warm and loving to all of us nephews and nieces. She always had a smile, a hug, a kiss on the cheek and a kind word. She was always there for the family and was the rock they went to. She was a great example of living out loud what she believed. I always think back to Christmases at Uncle George and Aunt Anna's house and the great food and the house full of cousins. We, who were blessed to have spent time with you, will always remember. Love - Bart, Kim and the kids(Cale, Connor and Kennedy) Waress

Mom, you will truly be missed. I can not help but think that you are finally whole again with your brother and sister in heaven. It takes a very special person to raise six boys and one girl, but it takes an extraordinary person, like you, to raise a family. The older I get, the more that I realize what a special thing that you did for all of us. We were made into the people that we are today because of you and the way that you raised us. Your caring personality was not only saved for your children, but also shown through your participation in the Catholic Church and your job at St. Edwards Nursing Home. You were devoted to helping others which is something that I will never forget. I will always think about you often, and you will be missed. Rest, finally. Rick, Valerie and kids.

Dear Walt & Family,
I will always remember what a "caretaker" sister Mary Ann was with all of us sisters and brother growing up. She always had to be the babysister! And being the youngest of five, she spoiled me and always protected me.
Mary Ann was a big part of the wonderful family we had growing up together. She is with the Lord now and with our loved ones there; We will miss her, too, but I know in my heart she is whole again.
With deepest sympathy,
Nancy (Bender)Liston, sister and family
