Michael Eckman Obituary
Mike is survived by his loving family, Mother and Father, Fran and Anthony Ciraldo; Father and Mother, Ray and Ann Eckman; he is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Diane and husband, Tim Pierce, Mark Eckman Sr., Rick and wife Angela Eckman, and Bob and wife Cathy Eckman; his many nieces and nephews, Mark Eckman II, Emily Eckman, Alicia Sincere, Lelon Corley, Kyle Corley, Michael Eckman, Sarah Eckman, and Jenna Eckman; his loving Aunts and Uncles, Rachel Perretta, Tony and wife Karen DeMita, Charlie and wife Lauri Eckman, and Thomas Eckman; Step Brothers, Tony Ciraldo, John Hartshorne, and Bill Hartshorne and their families.
Mike was an excellent drummer and a racing enthusiast who looked forward to every summer where he worked at a race school at Michigan Speedway. A vibrant and strong man, he loved to cook for his friends and enjoyed (more than anything) gathering around the table for a dinner with his family. Mike loved life to its fullest, loved everybody, and laughed from his heart. He was a very positive person who fought his cancer valiantly. Even though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on and his spirit will serve as a beacon for the rest of us until we can, once again, look upon his smiling face in the house of the Lord.
The family would like to thank all those who cared and prayed for Mike. Especially, the caring Professionals at the Cleveland Clinic and Duke University Medical Center.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family requests that you join us for Memorial Calling Hours at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 North Main St. in Akron on Sunday, May 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. to share your memories of Mike. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls.

I was very saddened to hear this at our recent class reunion. Mike and I became friends in first grade and he was a great buddy! I have fond memories of playing in Lions Park with him as children. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

To all of youwho signed the guest book, and expressing your condolences. thank you. Michael was all the virtues all of you described, whether you knew him or not. He bravely fought his cancer for 15yrs. As Michael's Mom, he taught me so manny things about life, love of family and friends. As time went on, our family realized Michael's increasingly love of God. He did not want to be in hospice. He wanted to be home with his family close.I thank God,and with the grace of God to have been able tobe with Mike and with Gods guidance the privilege to help him. Michaels brothers, remained very close to Michael through out his illness.Michael as some of you know was a sweet guy. He always knew more than he would say if asked.The many lives Michael touched all had a special
meaning for him to help is friends and relatives.I will miss him terribly. But I knew he belonged to God and that he would be called to God in time. I believe Michaels spirit will always be with us to watch, love and spread the word of love and gide us. Michaels love and caring for all of us was endless. I lived next to Michael until about 3 years ago (on Timberdale). He was such a positive person, always smiling and such and hard worker when he could. I'm sorry for the family's loss but it is heaven's gain.

We are so very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Way too young! He will not be in pain anymore. Now unfortunately you will be in pain for a while. You learn to eventually deal with the pain as hard as that is. YOu will remember him daily and that is a good thing! I am beyond grief stricken at the news that Mike is gone. Having just recently, in the past two years, have reconnected with Mike we were talking often on the phone and had plans to get together for dinner. The Eckmans and Ciraldos were not just my friends they ARE my adopted family. I have loved them all my entire life. My recent talks with Mike were SO full of inspiration, so full of life and SO full of LOVE. His appreciate for every tiny little thing was abounding. So staggering at times that no matter how down I felt he was there to lift me up, make me smile and fill me with hope like no other person could have done. That was Mike. He was the 'go getter' I strived to be, the fighter I envied and the friend to so many you cannot imagine. My life with not be the same without him as will no one elses lives be the same. I cannot say enough about him, his wonderous nature, his amazing laugh, his tender smile, his words of wisdom. I love you Mikey and will miss you more than words can say. I know this is not really Good0bye but more of a 'see you later' thing. Peaceful Blessings to you and all of the Eckman / Ciraldo family. You are in my heart, my soul and my life.

Although I didn't know Mike personally, I did know him through my dear friend Fran. Listening to Fran tell stories of his fight for life painted the picture of a man who showed more strength and courage than you could imagine would be wrapped up in one person. While he was the true epitomy of a fighter, Fran was the true epitomy of a mother, giving him all of the love, support, courage and encouragement that she had inside of her. There is no love as strong as that of a mother for their child and my heart aches for you at this time, Fran; and my heart is rejoicing at the freedom Mike now has. Prayers to the family. Love you, Fran!
