Michael Gauder Obituary
COPLEY -- Michael J. Gauder, 91, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodnight, never goodbye. We say goodnight to our father, grampa and GeGe Mike.
He is now surrounded by those loved ones who have passed on before him and is now with our Lord and Savior.
Michael was preceded in death by parents, Matt and Lena Gauder; wife, Elizabeth; and grandson, Chad Michael Skolnik. He is survived by daughters, Linda Kapper; devoted caregivers, Rebecca and loving son-in-law, Frank Klancer; grandchildren, Bryan and early on loving caregiver, Amy Kapper; his loving and devoted caregiver, Bethany Marie Skolnik and fiance Bruce Panning; great-grandchildren, Rylie, Jacob and Corey and their mother Malissa; and friend, Maria Smith of California.
He was a veteran of the Army serving during World War II who fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Normandy. He was one of the founding members of Guardian Angels Catholic Church where he proudly ushered for many years and impacted many peoples lives with his contagious smile.
He retired from Semco Auto Parts in Copley. After retirement, he spent many years with his loving wife, Elizabeth, of 51 years, traveling, spending time at their favorite clubs and dancing the Polka.
Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Hospice Care Center in Copley and Visiting Nurse Service for their compassionate care. Also we thank Rochelle Shephard and Sr. Marilynn from Hospice for helping us through our father's journey, along with his in-home aide, Sherise Sherfield and his in-home nurse, Barb. We also want to thank Fr. Breck from St. Hilary Catholic Church for blessing our father with his last rites. All have been a true blessing to our family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 South Cleveland-Massillon Rd. in Copley at 12 p.m., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333. Dad, it,s been 7 months since you were taken to Heaven.Frequently I see or hear someone or something that I know/feel is wrong,and I THANK YOU for what I thought was SO STRICT at the time. thank you for always Keeping GOD in our family and raising me to adulthood and many years after with my family..How happy you must be to be with GOD and mom and Chad your parents and your third baby, and two grandbaby Angels.Love,Linda 9/1/2014

Becky, Linda, Frank and Family - We are so sorry for your loss. We thank you for the wonderful care and love you all gave. We will miss his visits and remember always baseball, cross county and family gatherings. He is a much loved angel happy in heaven.

Mike, I am blessed to have shared so many good time together with you! I enjoyed spending time with you in the garage, painting the deck, putting up the handrail for you on the back steps, talking and laughing on the back porch, and listening to your stories of the war, your time spent at the brewery and at Semco Auto Parts. You were like the grandpa I never had! Those memories are forever in my heart! I will truly miss you but will see you again. Bethany (your poncho-villa) and I talk about you every day and laugh together about the times we shared! You were a great man and I hope to follow in your footsteps. God Bless You!

Thank you dad for letting us take such good care of you for 3 1/2 years..I'am so content that we did not have to put you in a nursing home. I always told you our home is your home and you are not going any where else to live. God answered our prayers. But you did go to a blessed new home called Heaven. As of now I'am having a moment of love for you. (That means Iam crying over you and wishing you were here.) Dad I would like you to put your hand in mine and we can pray together, like we did when Frank and I would put you to bed at night.You would always wake up with a smile and we would tell you what time it is and you would say REALLY. ..Dad I know you are in Heaven, while you were dying you would say Chad is calling me home. Then you saw your wife and said Liz is calling me. Then there was your mom Lena and Matt and great grandfather. You asked Frank to take care of all of us..You asked Frank if he could see all of them. Then you would say look they are there...That was towards the end of our fathers journey...So dad when the stars are out, I see you looking out of them as if they were windows..Thank you for all the wonderful years, and all the love you gave and showed..You lived a wonderful blessed life..

Missing you so very much Grampa, my Poncho! My days are so lost without you now and things we would be doing together. Im so very blessed to have shared so many laughs, smiles, many stories,and cherished memories we made together from the mornings I would walk in the door and wake you up for the day, how your face lit up knowing I was there to the end of the day after dinner when you would always ask,"do you have to go home tonight?" (With such a sad look and what we called boo-boo lip on your face) and we'd laugh! My days will never be the same Grampa!
