Phyllis Burrows Obituary
On June 30, 2008 Phyllis Burrows (nee Wollins), 83, passed away after a long illness.
She is survived by her daughters, Patti Pancoe of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Peggy Pancoe Rosoff (Dennis-deceased) of Wilmington, North Carolina and Polly Pancoe Kortlander (Fred) of Chicago; granddaughters, Rebecca and Pamela Rosoff; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis grew up in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Nathan and Esther Wollins (both deceased), and was the sister of Jody Wollins Klein (deceased) of Boston and brother Marvin Wollins (deceased) of Akron.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1947 where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. There she met and married her previous husband Walter Pancoe. She had a career in interior design as well as an interest in volunteer work. For many years, she was a docent at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was a member of the Board of "Off The Ground, Inc." and was involved with The Ravinia Festival as well as The International Visitors Center of Chicago and many other charitable organizations. She was a member of North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe, Illinois during her many years living in Winnetka, Illinois. She was later married a short time to Bernard Burrows (deceased) during which time she lived in Marion, Ohio.
Graveside will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Temple Israel Section 12. Always known for her bright smile and cheery attitude, she was loved by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, 6121 Montrose Road, Rockville, Md. 20852.

Peggy, Polly and Patti and all of your spouses and children. My sincerest sympathy to you on the loss of Aunt Phyllis. When we were growing up she was always the highlight of our visits to Chicago. There are no words that can express how big our loss is. My mom raised us on MilkyWays, hearts and love and we will forever miss her. My daughter said it so perfectly, she is "in" us.
