My wife, Henny, and I knew Cowboy Ray through his work at Lambert Buick/GMC. He was soft spoken and was never pushy as a salesman. He knew the vehicle would sell itself if he presented it to the customer in the right way. Once, we had looked at a GMC conversion van at another dealer and mentioned we were thinking about buying a similar van to Ray at Lambert. Two days later, the same van we had been looking at, driven by Ray, showed up at our home. He said to drive it for a couple of days and see how we liked it. He knew once he got it in our hands that we were going to buy it!
The last time we saw Ray was when he was helping his son with his business at Summit Mall.
We will miss his kind nature and honesty.

We are sorry to hear about Ray's passing. We knew him from the late "30's and 40's". My parents were friends of Sam and Halcyon. They knew each other from riding horses. Skip Cromleigh and family

I met Ray in the early 60s when i worked at Jones Buick as an apprentice mechanic. Although he was older we became fast friends and he was always eager to help. Sometimes after a long day we would meet at Kippy's for coffee. I saw him last in 1971 but remember him as a great guy. Please accept my condolences.

Was a pleasure knowing and working with you Ray.

Ray was one of the last generation of Idividuals who thought it was important to keep his word, could complete business with a handshake, and was honest. When he judged you might not always win,but at least you got An honest opinion.
