Rebecca Powell Obituary

Rebecca Lynn Powell

Taken suddenly after fighting so hard...

Rebecca Lynn Powell married her high school sweetheart and spent the first half of her life being a wife and a Mom. A Mom to all. She was the "KOOL-AID MOM". She had never met a kid she didn't hand a popsicle to...she sacrificed herself for family and friends without hesitation.

The second chapter of her life; She found peace for herself. She married her love George and spent years of joy, loving her new family. They spent their days embracing love and her grandbabies were the twinkle in her eye.

Rebecca was the caregiver for her sister Libby, and her husband George, in her final days. All while triumphantly battling cancer. She fought like Hell, and kicked cancer's butt.

She never met an animal she didn't rescue, a mouth she didn't feed, or a heart she didn't touch. Her humor was never ending! She was one of a kind, and she often said "I did it my way."

She leaves behind her soulmate, George; her sister and best friend of 40 years, Mary; and a basset named Fred. She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy and her son, James. She leaves a long list of siblings: Randy, Libby, Mary, Lee, Charlotte, Walter, and Debbie; her children: Mylissa (Jeff), Larry (Trina), Mike (Melissa), and Jennifer (Shayne). She also leaves her favorite things, her grandbabies...Dylan (Taylor), Drew, Bailee, Allan, Christopher, Timothy, Haley, Lacey, Logan, Nick, Noah, Ava, Ava, and Evan. Along with a list of nieces and nephews whom she considered her kids, Ashley, Ryan, Dustin, Jason, and Richie.

Her final year was a tough fight, but she always did it with a smile. Special thanks to Jenn and all the family, blood or not, who stepped up and made it easier for her. She requested no services, no burial. Just a party to remember her. So raise a glass...MOM YOU'RE A ROCKSTAR. You will be loved and missed forever!!

Becky was always so much fun with a quick laugh and a kind spirit. We shared homeroom and a locker through our Kent & Garfield years. I always remember her so fondly and am so sorry for the loss of this wonderful lady.
