Reuben Emerson of Squirrel Hill, formerly of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, age 94.

Beloved husband of Carol Schuit Emerson and the late Dorothy Jacobs Emerson; father of Rev. June Thomsen (Ib) of Kansas, Edward R. Dear Carol,
I am so sorry for your loss. My fondest memory is his willingness to play the violin for V week for Grace's class at SPCNS. Blessings, Trish Callaway

A REMEMBRANCE OF REUBEN
Reuben was a man who was small of stature but big of heart. When in his presence one felt his calmness and his love. He was interested in everything and everybody and was always eager to learn new things. He always has a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He loved to pass on what he had learned in life by writing little booklets including recipes and advice to husbands. One notable entry which I always remember was “How to Fry An Egg”! A number of things stand out about Reuben: his love of family and friends, his love of his facility (his shop) and his faith. He would speak with pride about his children and their accomplishments as well as his “adopted” children and all his grandchildren. The great love of his life was Carol who gave him a new lease on life after his beloved Dorothy passed away. If you spoke with Reuben for a while, sooner or later, he would relate to you the story of his tool and die business. He was so proud of that shop- it was clean, it had wonderful machinery and he loved all the workers that he trained and employed. I have never seen that shop but I have a very clear virtual image of it in my mind based on the many conversations I had with Reuben He had a strong faith and it was an integral part of his life.
Helen and I enjoyed the times Carol and Reuben visited us at the “rivah” and we treasure the many pleasant memories of those visits. We will miss his sweet smile and his funny little chuckle. He can certainly say “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day.”
Well done and rest in peace Reuben!

My Condolences to all of his friends and loved ones. He was always a good and fair man with great self-discipline. A great roll model in many ways. I knew him when I was a neighborhood child in the 60's. He was my first boss.

Bless him and all those he touched.

Carol, I'm sorry you have lost your long-time companion. I loved seeing him take walks all around our neighborhood. Your marriage revitalized his life.

Love,
