Richard "Rick" T. Boley

CLEVELAND --BARBERTON -- Richard "Rick" T. Boley, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

Rick was born on October 20, 1944 in Barberton, Ohio. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1962 and Purdue University in 1966, where he was a member of the football team. After college Rick joined the Peace Corps and he worked on the island of Ifalik in the South Pacific. Rick was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.

His work career included teaching and coaching in Bedford at St. Peter Chanel High School, Lincoln Electric as an accountant and retired from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Cleveland.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ann Boley and sister, Marilyn Bell. He is survived by his son, Rich Boley; brother, Tom (Hildy) Boley; along with several nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 17th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. Inurnment will take place Monday, December 19th, 12:30 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio 44270, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Rick's name.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Boley family. Although he served his time in the peace corps on my island for only a year before heading back because he was called to serve his country in the Vietnam war, Rick was one of the greatest teachers to his students. He was my first grade teacher, and we missed him dearly. Many on my island of Ifalik still speak of him highly, and still wonder where he's been. My heart breaks to learn of his passing. May he rest in peace. God Bless his soul and may He bring peace and comfort to his family and loved ones.

To the Boley Family: I was devastaded to hear of " milits" passing. He and l had such great times growing up together and playing football for the magics. I only wish that we had kept in touch more over the years. My God bless and keep you my friend and brother.'jim mitchen

Rick was my neighbor and friend. Loved to listen to his stories of being a lawyer for a police force,. He was in apt. 113 and I am in 116. I was really sad to hear he had passed, I had not seen him for a few days and thought maybe he had gone to the casino or a trip. You will be missed.
