Richard J. Cottrell, 48, of Akron, passed away January 3, 2016. Richard was born in Phoenix, Arizona on November 13, 1967 to the late Richard J. Cottrell, Sr. and Jennie Thompson (Nash).
Richard was employed by JRayl Transport and he worked with Broken Chains Prison Ministry. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and actively participated in Boy Scouts with his son.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 8 years, Julie; children, Kaitlynn and Micah; sister, Ruby Mitchell; nieces, Cary Lynn Thompson and Jennie Nahacky; father-in-law, Robert N. Johnson; mother-in-law, Diane Johnson; brother-in-law, Michael (Heather) Johnson; sister-in-law, Loire (Steve) Fox, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. with Pastor
Michael Gammill officiating. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Newcomer Funeral Home. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.NewcomerAkron.com
