Richard M. Hicks, 71, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 20, 2010.
He was born in Orgas, W. Va. and had been an area resident for 69 years. He was a veteran of the Marines and had been employed in quality control at B&W, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, National Muzzleloading Rifle Assoc., Canal Fulton Ramrod Club, Zeppelin Rifle and Pistol Club, North Lawrence Fish and Game Club, Ohio Long Rifle Club and had been secretary of the National Rifle Club.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Martha; son, Steven and brother Ronald, and is survived by his children, Jeff (Rhonda) Hicks, Mike (Kari) Hicks and Julie (Kevin) Patrick; brother, Roger (Delores) Hicks; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment will be held at Greensburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. TODAY at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel), 1990 S. Main St. in Akron.
