Richard Jones Obituary

Richard V. Jones, age 80, of Suffield, passed away peacefully at his home after a prolonged illness on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was born in Tallmadge on March 17, 1941 to the late Acton and Laura Limbert Jones. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Sapp. Dick's legacy of love will be carried on by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lori; children, Kathy Karam, Jennifer (Bill) Noveske, Mark Jones, Bill (Jodi) Jones and Tracy (Geoff Beckman) Jones; grandchildren, Sydney, Shelby, Benjamin, Isabelle, Samuel and Christian, and grandpuppies, Tank and Louis; sisters, Audrey Woertz and Lauretta Archual. Dick was a 1959 graduate of Tallmadge High School, and received his Bachelors in Forestry at Michigan State University, class of '64. He was District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America Great Trail Council from 1966 until 1979. Dick retired in 2007 from Davey Tree, Kent, OH, having held several positions over his 25 years of service. He met the love of his life, Lori, at Barney's, Tallmadge Springs, where he was working as a lifeguard. They married at the Historical Tallmadge United Church on Tallmadge Circle in 1962. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He loved his family, his church, and the many friends he made along his life journey. Dick was a faithful member of the Suffield United Church of Christ since 1975. Dick was a die-hard Michigan State Spartans fan. His smile, sense of humor and love of life will be missed. Special thanks to Pastor Karin and the Suffield Church family, the nurses at Akron City Summa H-5, and countless friends and family, for their compassion, love, care and support. A private memorial service will be held for Dick's immediate family. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date, at Suffield United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, Dick's request was that trees be planted in his honor, and any donations, to the Suffield United Church of Christ.
