Ruth Helen Frazee, 90, of Uniontown, formerly of Portage Lakes, passed away at Pebble Creek in Akron following a brief illness.
Ruth was born in Akron to Adolph and Lena (Benyak) Richter and lived her entire life in Akron. She attended East High School and was married on Flag Day, 1941, to Charles H. "Chic" Frazee, who preceded her in death May 3, 1990 after 49 years of loving marriage.
Ruth served as a civilian base secretary while Chic served in the US Army during World War II and later as a secretary at Cotter Merchandise Storage Company, retiring in 1980. Ruth enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating, knitting, bowling, and especially loved spending time with her family and neighbors. After living on Rex Lake for 54 years, Ruth moved to the Greenview Assisted Living Center two years ago.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff of Greenview and Asera Care.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Diane L.F. Smith (James P.) of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and a son, Jeffrey Frazee, of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Justin K.F. Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kirsten Grae Fournier (Justin K.) and Chase Courtland F. Smith, both of Chevy Chase; one great-grandson, Chase Fournier; much loved nieces and nephews, Ruth Heater, Robert Geib (Sandy), Rae Lyn Craig (James), Austin and Dakota Craig, all of Akron, Janice Geib of Canton, Rebecca Stevens (James), of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, Joshua Stevens of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jeremy Stevens of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Eric Heater (Evelyn) and Del Heater, both of Houston, Texas; and numerous younger nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Billow's Portage Lakes Chapel, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road. A memorial service and celebration of Ruth's life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 North Prospect Street, Akron, with Pastors Landis Coffman and David Scharf officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gift donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or your charity of choice.
