Vincent Colant Obituary
Vincent `Vince' Papa Colant, 81, passed away peacefully due to complications of liver cancer at Hospice Care in Palm Coast, Fla. Monday, March 17, 2014, surrounded by his family.
The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. at Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, where a joint Holy Name and K of C Rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. Funeral services begin Monday, 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home and will be followed at 11 a.m. with the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown (Green), OH 44685. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery where Military Honors will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, 301 Memorial Medical Pkwy., Daytona Beach, FL 32117 or to St. Vincent-St. Mary Booster Club c/o St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, 15 North Maple Street, Akron, Ohio 44303. To the Colant Family, I just learned of Vince's passing yesterday while reading The Rubber City Letter Carrier. I was so saddened to hear and am sorry I didn't know sooner. I began my career at old S. Arlington St. post office where I first met Vince. He soon became one of my dearest friends and mentor. He always had such a sunny disposition and was so much fun to be around. He had a terrific work ethic and was proud to be a letter carrier. He was such a family man and so proud of his children. We had many lunches together and the conversation usually centered around our love for our families. As we went our different ways, I'm sorry we lost contact, but I have fun memories of those years we worked together. Vince was a true gentleman and friend and I will miss him.

To all of my family back home: I truly am very sorry I cannot be with you right now but I am with you in spirit. Aunt Shirley I am truly sorry. Uncle Vince, I believe the last time I saw you was at my high school graduation party 6 some years ago; I enlisted in the marine corps in which I currently am still serving. Hey, between me you Grandpa and uncle Tony I think we can start up our own army lol. I sure hope that you get to meet a few people up there that mean a great deal to me. Semper Fi Uncle Vince!
