Virginia Peter Obituary
Virginia Rose Peter passed away peacefully at her home on June 26, 2007.
She was born on February 22, 1914 in Erie, Pa. Ginny graduated from Mercyhurst College of Erie with a degree in diatetics and interned at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C., where she met her husband Arno. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Arno; daughter, Mary Lewis; sisters, Louise Haas and Frances Schultz. She is survived by her children, Dr. Charles (Therese) Peter, Virginia Scanlon, Anne (James) McCarthy of Rockville, Md., James (Cathy) Peter of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Robert (Sharon) Peter of Raleigh, N.C.; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The Peter family would like to thank her caregivers for their exceptional kindness and commitment. A special thank you to her physician, Dr. Teresa Koenig, for her many years of compassionate care and friendship.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007, 9:30 a.m. at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. FUNERAL PROCESSION TO FORM AT THE CHURCH. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Hilary Parish Foundation, or to the St. Hilary Parish St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2750 West Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 4433-4236.
