CUYAHOGA FALLS --William L. Shiflett, Jr., 82, passed away August 20, 2007.
Mr. Shiflett was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls the past 61 years, moving there from N. Hill. He retired in 1988 as a computer operator for Mohawk Rubber and was a Veteran of World War II having served with the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of Tadmor Shrine, Mt. Akra Lodge 680 F & AM, Cuyahoga Falls Commandery #83, Royal Arch Masons Chapter 225 and South Shore Cruising Club.
Preceded in death by parents, William A. Shiflett, Sr. and Pearl Shiflett; sister, Dorothy Shoemaker and brother-in-law, Walter Shoemaker, he is survived by his wife, Ruth A. of 41 years; sister, Betty Jane Shiflett of Cuyahoga Falls; niece, Beverly Shoemaker Jensen (Larry-deceased) of Mentor; nephew, Richard Shoemaker (Anna Mae) of Millersburg; great nieces and nephew, Dawn Shoemaker Byrus (Ted), Denise Shoemaker Sisson (Bill), Brian Shoemaker, Belinda Jensen McPherson (Calvin) and Heather Jensen Defibaugh (Michael); cousin, Barry Shiflett (Joan); brother-in-law, Marty Jones (Gerry); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mel and Norma Roe; nieces and nephews, Lori Roe Walker (Randall), Jeffrey Roe (Becky), David Roe (Sandra) and Melissa Roe Nagel (William).
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Rev. E. Eugene Meador officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest Ministries, P.O. Box 547, Akron, OH 44309-0547.
