GALLIPOLIS — Abby Lynn Bates, age 4 of Gallipolis, died tragically Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, along with her mother, Betty Darrelletta Bates. Born May 4, 2016, in Huntington, W.Va., she was preceded by her grandparents, Sharon Setser Jude, Julie Lynn Kinder Bates, and a great grandmother, Libby Gay Crothers.
Abby was a child with a lot of attitude, she was always happy and showed it with a big smile, and she lit up a room when she entered. She loved to play dress up and told everyone she was a princess. She loved her brother very much and he was her best friend.
Abby is survived by her father, Robert David Bates of Gallipolis; brother, David Matthew Bates of Gallipolis; grandparents, Darrell (Kimberly Martin) Jude of Pilgrim, Ky., Robert Bates of Gallipolis, and Dee (John) Queen of Gallipolis; and a great grandmother, Sally Wears of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at the First Church of the Nazarene Church Family Life Center 1110 1st. Ave., Gallipolis with Rev. Craig Alan Klein and Kevin Plantz officiating. Friends may call at the Family Life Center of Friday, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Betty and Abby Bates Scholarship Fund.

All those attending are to wear masks, and follow social distancing guidelines.
