POMEROY — Charlotte Louise Smith, 61, Pomeroy, Ohio, passed from her earthly life to meet her Heavenly Father on Jan. 31, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. She fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born April 1, 1955, in Middleport, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Matthew and Eloise Casto Snyder. Charlotte was a 1973 graduate of Meigs High School and was a stay at home mom and a caregiver for many children who's lives she touched. Years later she went to work as a cook for the Eastern Local School district for 13 years before resigning to spending her time with her husband. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends and had a passion for flower gardening. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Gary Smith and her beloved daughters, Amy and Crystal. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth (Carol) Snyder of Middleport, Ohio, and Ronnie (Zella) Snyder of Pikeville, Kentucky; her sisters, Barbara (Terry) Lewis of Middleport, Ohio and Marilyn (Terry) Powell of Fraziers Bottom; an uncle, James Casto, along with a special great niece and nephew Ashlyn and Sawyer Bradford as well as a host of other loved nieces and nephews, many special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Georgie Snyder; and brothers, William Fredrick Snyder and Larry Wayne Snyder.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, with Pastor Walt Goble officiating at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at Chester Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in Charlotte's memory to Holzer Hospice 2881 St. Rt. 160 Gallipolis, OH 45631.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Shah and his compassionate nurses, Pleasant Valley Home Health and Holzer Hospice.
