GALLIPOLIS — Dan Thomas Hamilton, 87, Gallipolis, passed away surrounded by his loving family at 3:10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at his Clay Township home. Born in Gallia County on Oct. 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Faye Call Hamilton. Dan was a retired heavy equipment operator from Teamsters Local #505 in Huntington, West Virginia. He was a Korean Conflict veteran of the U.S. Army, attended the Elizabeth Chapel Church, and a member of Post #4464, Veterans of Foreign Wars. For many years he owned and operated the Hamilton Orchard.
Dan is survived by his wife, Gail Cain Hamilton, whom he married March 22, 1957, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia; his four daughters, Terri Lynn Hamilton, Kelly (Kerry) Ours, Margi (Shannon) Webb, all of Gallipolis and Lori (Don) Strieter, of Huntington, West Virginia; grandchildren, Daniel (Morgan) Ours, Megan (Jeffrey) Mullins, Brooke (Jeremy Halfhill) Bowie, Abigail (Bransen) Barr, Elizabeth (Christopher) Brumfield, Jacob Strieter, Luke Strieter, Ashton Webb and Levi Strieter; great-grandchildren, Hollis Ours, Holden Ours, Pyper Bowie, Kennedy Barr, Rory Mullins, Reagan Brumfield; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hamilton Daniels; and his brothers, Terry Alan Hamilton, Jim Hamilton and Gene Hamilton.
Private family funeral services will be conducted at the Cremeens-King Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Alfred Holley and Rev. Randy Carnes. Interment will be in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with military graveside services conducted by the Gallia County Funeral Detail Team. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dan's memory to the Elizabeth Chapel Church, 55 Locust Street, Gallipolis, OH 45631. Cremeens-King Funeral Home, locally owned and located at 75 Grape Street, is honored to serve the Hamilton family.
