David Aaron "Ace" Wolfe

1932 - 2020

EAST LETART — David Aaron "Ace" Wolfe, 88, of the East Letart Community of Racine, passed away, on Friday, December 4, 2020 at his residence. Born May 5, 1932 to the late John L. and Eula J. Roush Wolfe, he was a retired union laborer and a farmer. He lived his whole life on the family farm.

Aaron was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed each season; football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball. During the summers, he immersed himself in strawberries and tomatoes. Aaron was a 2018 inductee into the Racine Southern Hall of Fame. His notable achievements were; four-year varsity baseball starter and he started every game, holding a batting average over .300 each year, arguably the best centerfielder ever at Racine Southern, only one career error, played in the Ohio Valley Baseball League, coached the 7th and 8th grade basketball teams at Letart Elementary where he provided all the team uniforms and received no compensation. Aaron also served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955.

He was kind-hearted, and generous to all. He felt compelled to help others. Uncle Aaron entertained his nieces, nephews, and the neighboring children with his jokes, antics, and feats of agility. He will be fondly remembered for hayrides, climbing the hay elevator, crossing the barn beams, and juggling for entertainment, and also for tomato fields, and peddling for education.

He is survived by his brothers, Tom and Joan Wolfe, and Victor and Alice Wolfe, a brother-in-law, Jim Lewis. A special nephew, Jerry and Dixie Wolfe, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Nora Lewis, Mary (Jack) Ord, Addie (Carroll) Norris, and Odessa Erbes, and a brother, Austin Wolfe.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Letart Falls Cemetery. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with the arrangements.
