RUTLAND — Gary Griffith, 83, of Rutland, and a life long resident of Meigs County, passed away Jan. 28 after a long battle with cancer.
Preceding him in death, his father, Reverend Edward Griffith and mother, Helen Griffith; brothers, Kenneth and Charles Griffith.
He leaves behind his wife, Juanita Bowers Griffith, Rutland; a son, David Alan Griffith of Botkins, Ohio; step-daughters, Sonia Beaver Blake (David Watt) and Tina Beaver Wolfe (Richard Wolfe) all of East Palatka, Fla.; grandsons, Caleb Blake of St. Augustine, Fla. and Jordan Wolfe of Chillicothe Ohio; a niece, Karen Griffith and sister-in-law, Maxine Griffith of Pomeroy.
Throughout his life, he was the owner of several successful businesses. For the past 13 years he served as an evangelist for several nursing homes in the mid-Ohio Valley area. He was a member of the Ash Street Baptist Church.
He was a certified pilot and loved flying, air shows, hunting, fishing in Canada, and tinkering on equipment in his shop.
Services will be held at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Mark Morrow officiating. Entombment will follow in the Meigs Memory Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gary was a great friend, and along with Pastor Mark Morrow he led me to the Lord. I cannot thank him enough. Rest in Peace Gary.
