Marjorie Smith Obituary

POMEROY — Marjorie L. Smith, 93, of Pomeroy, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 at her residence.

Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Chester, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Forest Alfonso and Margaret Amanda Fell Bailey. Marjorie retired from Veterans Memorial Hospital in Pomeroy after 30 years of service and was a member of Carleton Church. In her spare time she was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary (Ken) Simpson, Donna (Wallace) Hatfield and Brenda Roush; six grandchildren, David (Susan) Bates, Karen Cerbus, Angela (Dan) Edwards, Barbara (Bryan) Woodyard, Wally (Lori) Hatfield and Michelle (Donnie) Bunce; nine great grandchildren, Ryan, Kurtis, Stevie, Jesse, Zachary, Grace, Maddison, Allison and D.J.; one great great grandson Logan; one sister, Eunice Matheny; Avice Bailey and a special friend Richard Williams.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Merwin "Gene" Smith in 1998; one son, Stephen; one grandson, Christopher Roush; three brothers, Otis, Elmer, and Charles; and two sisters, Virginia and Eva.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Jimmy Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Carleton Cemetery. Friends may visit the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
