GALLIPOLIS — Mark Everett Sims, 59, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 16, 2016, at Holzer Medical Center, after a short bout with cancer.
Born Jan. 25, 1957, in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Everett Earl "Pete" and Daisy Mae James Sims.
Mark was a motel manager and a former employee of the Gallipolis Developmental Center.
He leaves behind his wife, Patricia Coughenour Sims, of Gallipolis;, two daughters, Tara Lynn (Tom) Calvert, of Gallipolis, and Carrie Durst, of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren: Alicia Marie Calvert, of Cincinnati, Thomas Andrew Calvert, of Gallipolis, Joshua Calvert, of Gallipolis, Patrick Gibbs, of Washington, Haley Morehead, of Point Pleasant, Remington Durst, of Point Pleasant, and Cheyenne Durst, of Point Pleasant; four great-grandchildren: Addie Ngo, Tristian Smith, Rosalynn Morehead and Alana Smith; one sister, Cinthia Sanders, of Jackson; one nephew, Travis Sanders, of Gallipolis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday April 21, 2016, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Truman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call the funeral home between noon and 1 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be James Mills, Dennie, Keith and Johnny Coughenour, Tom and Josh Calvert.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with Mark's funeral expenses.
