GALLIPOLIS — Michael Lewis Hughes, 61, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1955 in Gallipolis, son of Ray and Janet Hughes, who survive him. Michael married Debbie Graham Hughes on February 2, 1974 and she survives also. He was a graduate of Kyger Creek High School. He was a dairy farmer, living and working on their 4 generation family farm. Michael was a lifelong member of River of Life United Methodist Church, a current member of Gallia County Tobacco Association, and a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Board for the past 20 years. He loved The Florida Boys southern gospel group and loved his animals.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie Hughes; a daughter, Jenny (Jason) Beaver; a son, Tony (Elizabeth) Hughes; grandchildren, Katelyn (Alex) Stapleton, Justin, Austin and Madison Beaver, and Micah Hughes; his parents, Ray and Janet Hughes; two sisters, Carolyn (Clark) Vickers and Barb (Fred) Burnett; his mother-in-law, Carol Graham; sisters-in-law, Diana (Ken) Beaton and Shari (Rob) Rocchi; brothers-in-law, Mick (Laurie) Graham, Brad (Nancy) Graham, Andy (Linette) Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lewis and Virginia Hughes, maternal grandparents, Howard and Louise Fellure, a sister, Sue Hughes, a nephew, Colby Burnett, a father-in-law, Richard Graham, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick and Teri Graham.
Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to River of Life United Methodist Church, 35 Hillview Dr., Gallipolis, OH 45631.
Pallbearers will be Brian Shadle, Brad Shadle, Jared Burnett, Austin Neekamp, Davey Meaige, Nicky Meaige and Ricky Meaige.
