On Saturday, November 20, 2021, we lost our loving mother, Nanny, sister, aunt and friend, Mildred "Mid" Gillilan Williams. She passed away in her home following a recent illness. Mid was born in Letart Falls, on August 28, 1935, to the late Elbert and Della Gillilan.
She married Freeman Williams, the love of her life, on January 24, 1981, and he preceded her on July 31, 1997.
After graduating from Racine High School, she began working at the Racine Home National Bank, where she worked for 28 years. Later she worked at the Meigs County Jobs and Family Services for 10 years. Mid was an active member of the Mount Moriah Church of God, where she attended her entire life and played the piano since she was a young teenager. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she enjoyed crafting.
Mid is survived by a daughter, Jan (Bill) Harmon, of Racine; grandchildren, Cameryn (Grey) Johnson, Billy Harmon, and JP (Ashley) Harmon; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jaydyn, Aubrey, and Jayson Harmon; sisters, Shirley Simpson, of Racine, Betty Spaun, of Racine, and Dolores Donohue, of Harrisonville; along with many nieces and nephews, there were a few that were more like children to her, Diana (Brian Reed) Bissell, Lori (Scott) Bearhs, Mark (Regina) Simpson, Glenn (Suellen) Simpson, Sheryl Rentas, and Joy Imbodene. A special friend who was like a daughter, Junie Maynard, lots of great-nieces and great-nephews; step-children, Jim Williams, John Williams, and Anna Chamberlain; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, and her special furry friends, Wally, Jackie, and Sassy also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Rex Carlyle; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Simpson, Raymond Donohue, and Charles Spaun.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine with Pastor Don Combs officiating. Interment will follow in the Letart Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
