Phyllis Lou Baker was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world on March 8, 2022, at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
Phyllis was born to the late Worthy and Opal Stanley on October 16, 1940. She married her beloved husband, Larry, and together they had two sons: Michael "Shawn" Baker and Matthew Shane Baker. Throughout the years, Phyllis enjoyed many treasured memories of family vacations to Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Phyllis was a proud Bobcat and an employee in the Athletic Department at Ohio University. She and her husband owned Baker Photography where her organizational skills and itinerary planning were second to none. Following retirement, Phyllis was a member and administrative assistant at The Bradford Church of Christ. She was so very thankful for her church family and the many special friendships she shared with her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Phyllis adored her three grandchildren: Emma Grace, Jackson Miles, and Myah Leigh. She was a proud Maw Maw who will be missed immeasurably.
Phyllis endured many years of sorrow following the loss of her husband and both sons, but she relied heavily on her faith and trust in Jesus Christ. She is now enjoying long-awaited embraces as she has been reunited with them in heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Bradford Church of Christ on Friday, March 11, at 1 p.m. Information regarding a graveside service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
