GALLIA COUNTY — On March 14, 2021, Robert "Bob" Glendon Jones, went peacefully to be with the Lord, his family by his side.
He was born on July 8, 1937, in a log cabin near Cora, in Gallia County, Ohio. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Ammon and Helen (Harris) Jones; sister, Judy Jones Fuller, and niece, JoEllen Fuller.
Over the course of Bob's life, he was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bob, affectionately known as Papaw, leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Linda; a son, Randy (Belinda) of Gallipolis, Ohio; a daughter, Kathy (Russell) Hodges of Mount Airy, N.C.; a granddaughter, Kaela (James) Rodgers of Mount Airy; a grandson, Glendon (Anna) Hodges of Galax, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Mallie and Mack Hodges of Galax; and special side-kick cat, Bunny Jones.
Bob was the owner/operator of General Tire Sales in Middleport, Ohio, for 25 years. After retiring, he continued to work in the tire industry as the PR for Willis Tire for five years. He attended Salem Baptist Church since the 1950s and was a member since 1977. He was a Sunday school teacher and a trustee.
Bob is remembered as a man with a great many talents and hobbies, a sense of humor and a knack for storytelling being foremost. He spent many afternoons sitting on his back porch spinning a yarn and laughing. He was passionate about cars and woodworking and could often be found mowing his yard in which he took great pride. Bob enjoyed road trips exploring the vastness of the United States and made many wonderful memories on the road with his wife, family, and friends.
Even though Bob is and will continue to be greatly missed, his earthly work is done, and he is rejoicing with the Lord. In accordance with Bob's wishes, there will not be any services.

The most genuine, honest, loving family man. Always had a smile for you. You could tell what vehicle Bob had drove to church, it was the most shiniest, detailed vehicle on the parking lot. Usally 1 to 2 hours after church talking in the parking lot. We all know that Bob has his new body and has touched the face of God. Prayers for the family and know that we love you.

My brother Ed called with the news. Bobby was my older cousin and I was in awe of him when I was in my early teens. I remember being at Granny and Pa Banners up on the hill and Bobby in a mid 50s Chevy flying up the drive slinging gravel and sliding to a stop by the house. RIP
