BIDWELL — Sam E. Holstein, 69, Bidwell, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 in Abbyshire Place, Bidwell.
Sam was born April 3, 1947 in Charleston, W.Va., the son of the late Paul David and Vivian Marie (Buzzard) Holstein. He married Sandy Caldwell October 9, 1976 in Mercerville, and she survives. Sam was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict and retired, serving as the Head Chief of Security, from Holzer Medical Center after twenty-nine years of service and he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Sam is also survived by his sons: Paul D. (Kim) Holstein, Bidwell, and Chris Holstein, Thurman; granddaughter, Kelsey Dawn Holstein, Bidwell; brother, Tom (Lula) Holstein, Thurman; his special pets, Mooch, Maggie and Princess and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Hettie Hapney, Joyce Hapney and Nellie Hueback.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis. Burial will follow with Full Military Graveside services conducted by Vinton American Legion Post #161 in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Mercerville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4-6 p.m.
