Allen V. Levy

Allen V. - A.K.A. Solomon King, a resident of Norman Veteran's Center, was born in Lexington, KY on Aug. 13, 1930 to Isidore & Rebecca Levy. He went to meet his Lord on Jan. 20, 2005. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by 3 sons & 1 daughter and their families: Dean & Diane Levy and their children: Brandon & Andrea of Ashburn, VA; Jonathan & Sarah King and their children: Harrison & Thomas of Manchester, England; Alex King and Heidi King, also of Manchester, England; beloved extended family: Henrietta King of Scotland, Helen Scott and Winston & Jan Barton, all of OKC. Allen performed around the world for 40 years, working with such entertainers as Danny Thomas, Rich Little, Jackie Gleason, Mahalia Jackson, Jerry Lewis and others. In 1969, he was successful with his #1 record, 'She Wears My Ring' and was voted 'Singer of the Year' in Great Britain. He has performed before Royalty in England, Holland, Spain, Germany and other countries. Born of Jewish parents, Allen received Christ as his Lord, while a patient at the Jewish hospital in Cincinnati, OH. In his travels all around the world, he shared the gospel through music as 'Christ's Ambassador of Song', with his 7 octave voice, he has now joined the Heavenly Choir singing for his Messiah. Memorial Services to celebrate his life will be held 3:00 PM Mon., Jan. 24, 2005 at the South Colonial Chapel.
