Alvin Pierce

Alvin Standish Pierce, died on Oct. 25, 2008 at the age of 89. Al was affectionately known by his family as "Bus." He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp where he served in Puerto Rico during WWII and later served as a Search and Rescue Pilot in the Civil Air Patrol. Al worked at Tinker Field but was self-employed most of his life doing outboard motor repair on Mercury motors in a shop he built next to his home in Wheatland, OK. After retirement he took two mission trips to Spain and a trip to Honduras with the Baptist General Convention of OK. Al taught Sunday school in Spanish at The Good Shepherd Mission in OKC for many years. He was active in Brotherhood and served in Lay Renewals all over the state of Okla. and Texas and one in Georgia. Al was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, and was an ordained Deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and a daughter, Jackie who died in 1951. Al is survived by his wife Ann, daughters: Linda Pierce of Seattle, WA Alana Stephens of OKC granddaughter Jacki Minney and her husband Kurtis of MI and grandson Max Stephens of OKC. He has five great-grandchildren which were his favorite five little gumps: Abigail, Grant and Paige Minney of MI and Tyler and Brookelyn Stephens of Virginia. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Al's honor to Southern Hill Baptist Church, designated to missions, 8601 S. Penn, OKC, OK 73159. Services to celebrate Al's life will be 1:00 PM on Wed. Oct. 29, 2008 at Vondel Smith Mortuary South Colonial Chapel, 6934 S. Western with interment following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
