BOBBY ONG Obituary

May 16, 1932 - February 18, 2015 McLOUD Bob J. Ong was born on May 16, 1932, to Ella (Moore) Ong and George Bert Ong at the family home in Wewoka. He died after a short illness at his home, surrounded by his family, on February 18, 2015. He was 82. He met the love of his life, the beautiful redhead Jimmie Lee Harris, at a pie supper in 1951. They were married a few weeks later April 28, 1951. Together, they raised their two sons, James Noble and George Anthony "Tony." He was an amazing father, always proud and enthusiastically supportive of Jim's career as an actor and Tony's career as a musician. He was also a loving and devoted son, taking good care of his mother when his father died at the young age of 54. Bob graduated from New Lima High School in 1950, got his undergraduate degree at East Central University in Ada and his master's degree in education from The University of Oklahoma in 1961. He was an educator for his entire professional career, starting as a teacher for Butner public schools and ending his career as the principal of Nicoma Park Junior High. He was a dedicated educator who blessed many lives in his career as a teacher and principal. Bob and Jimmie spent 55 glorious, fun-filled years together playing cards, going to garage sales and visiting with their many friends before her death on April 11, 2006. He was a loving and attentive caregiver to her during her years of illness, rarely leaving her side. After the death of his beloved Jimmie, he began a new chapter in his life when he met and married Juanita Rodriguez. Bob often remarked how lucky he was to find love twice in his life. Juanita lovingly cared for Bob during his illness, which allowed him to remain in his home. His family will be forever grateful to her and her family for this. Bob loved fishing and camping with Jimmie and their boys and later, with Juanita. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball. He loved his garden and tinkering in his large workshop. He also enjoyed traditional country music like Merle Haggard, Porter Waggoner and Hank Williams. He and Jimmie had fun going to the casinos, which he continued to do with Juanita. He loved living in the country the last few years of his life as he was a country boy at heart. But more than anything, he loved being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bertie Ong; nephew, Michael Dodson; and his beloved, forever love Jimmie. Mourning his loss are his sons, Jim and Tony (Debra); his dear sister, Berdine Dodson; and several nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his wife, Juanita; her son, Gary Turner, and her daughters, Joanna Turner and Vanessa Wagner, and their children and grandchildren. Bob was a loving, devoted and supportive son, husband and father. Jim and Tony have said many times over the years how lucky they were to have two parents who loved each other and who loved them as much as they did. What a blessing that has been to them. He was a man of great substance and character, admired by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our hearts are broken, but we know he is in Heaven with his parents; sister; and his dear wife of 55 years, Jimmie. At his request, there will be no services.

I knew Mr Ong all my school life and even before as I had older brother n sisters. He was always someone who treated you fairly. Even when I saw him some months ago at Walmart he remembered I was one of his students even if he didn't immediately remember my name. Had Mrs Ong for my 6th grade teacher. They will both be missed. RIP
