Charles Taylor Obituary

Charles 'Butch' Taylor Born in Mobile Alabama March 4, 1949, Mobile was his beloved childhood home. He moved to Oklahoma in 1970. He was a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma. Earning his Masters degree there in 1977, he devoted most of his adult life to teaching social studies in Oklahoma City Public Schools. He spent many years working for the American Federation of Teachers as an advocate for teacher rights and benefits. He dedicated the majority of his teaching at F.D. Moon Middle School, before moving to Harding Middle School to finish his career . Even after his retirement from teaching in 2002, in his spirit, he was still an educator. His adherence to a strong work ethic and need to spend his life doing something meaningful, led him to a second career working for the Social Security Administration as a disability determination specialist. Butch was a good husband and a good father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his son, B.J. Taylor of Dallas; his daughter, Deanna Taylor of Bethany; his step-son Nicholas and wife Cynthia of OKC; his mother Jackie Hensley of Houston; his father Bob Taylor of Mobile; his sister Gwen Drinkard and husband Mark of Kaufman, TX; his brother David Taylor and wife Penny of Orlando; his sister Denise Taylor of Mobile; and his sister Wanda Malone and husband Mark of Mobile as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Leland Taylor of Houston, TX. The memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Sunny Lane Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held in Mobile Alabama, at 2:00 pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Monday, April 26, 2004.
