CURTIS HAYES

Feb 28, 1936 - July 17, 2014 EDMOND Curtis Joseph Hayes 78, longtime resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away July 17, 2014. Curt was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Ponca City, OK to Bernard & Virginia Hayes. He was a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University and member of the U.S. Army. He was also known by his family as the world's best geologist. He enjoyed his career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for over 35 years. He was also a humorist and speaker of agronomy at many events across the nation. Curt was also recognized for his outstanding 15-year service to the Kerr-McGee Swim Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; and brother, Craig. Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Scroggins and Marti Black; two sons-in-law; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; five nieces; one nephew; ten grandnieces; seven grandnephews; two cousins; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
