Dave Jackson Rawson

Dave Jackson Rawson was born on January 23, 1924 and joined Wilma Rawson, his wife of almost 50 years, in heaven on August 19, 2005. Raised in rural Oklahoma in the Great Depression, Mr. Rawson served his country on the USS Harris during WWII and earned diplomas from both Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma. After directing high school and college band for several years, he founded Rawson Music Company in OKC in 1963 and worked there until his retirement where upon he avidly pursued his hobbies of playing checkers and spoiling grandchildren. Always putting others desires before his own needs, he was famous for his tender heart, compassion and generosity. Preceded in death by the mother of his children, Wilma; his parents, Stonewall and Jane Rawson and five brothers and sisters. Mr. Rawson is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Healy-Rawson, his children Resa Pace and her husband Mark; James Rawson and Donald Rawson and wife, Connie; his brother and sister-in-law, Dude and Shirley Rawson, seven grandchildren and a host of adoring nieces and nephews. His children would like to thank his wife, Mary, for showering him with love and happiness during their much-too-brief marriage and the family of Hance Rawson for thier support during his illness. Mr. Rawson's services will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2:00 PM at Southern Hills United Methodist Church, 8200 South Penn in OKC.
