Earl McGinty Obituary

Funeral service for Earl Thomas McGinty, 65, will be held on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Okeene, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Bennet Peters officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery near Okeene with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., of Okeene. Earl Thomas McGinty was born on October 31, 1937 to Clyde and Pearl Fulton McGinty in Manhattan, Kansas. He died on August 19, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Earl attended school in Manhattan. He married Stella Hauptman of Nebraska City, Nebraska and they had three daughters, Chris, Ann and Robin. In 1962 he married Sharon Woodruff Burghardt in Sidney, Iowa. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1968. In April of 1969, Mac McKnight hired Earl at Cardox. Due to changes of name and ownership, the company name is now Air Liquide America. Earl remained with them for the past 34 years, starting as a delivery driver and finishing as a location manager in Oklahoma City. Earl enjoyed being with his family very much. He was a loving father to Leigh Anne and Tim, Sharon's children, and a loving grandfather to Savannah, Brooke, Brittany Jo and Tyler. In addition to spending time with his family, Earl loved hunting and fishing and he was a big OU fan. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Tom Retchless, Ann and Mike Pangborn and a daughter, Chris Cooper; grandchildren and spouses, Jamie and Ben Legg, Hannah Retchless, Mike and Misty McGinty, Matthew and Sena Pangborn, Mark Pangborn and Kori, all of Beatrice, Nebraska and Bobbie Joe Cooper; great-grandchildren, Cloe, Garret and Ryan Legg, Ainsley McGinty, Rylee and Rebecca Pangborn; step-children and grandchildren, Leigh Ann, Neal, Brooke and Brittany Jo Bisel, Tim, Brenda, Savannah and Tyler Burghardt of Okeene; one brother, Clyde McGinty of Hoxie, Kansas and one sister, Bonnie Vientos of St. George, Kansas and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and his grandson, Adam McGinty. The casket will be open at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM. with the family being present from 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. and both before and after the service on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church through the funeral home.
