Francis Conway Obituary

April 30, 1927 - Sept. 30, 2011 EDMOND Francis H. Conway, an Edmond resident since 1981, passed away Friday evening, September 30. Born in Archibald, PA on April 30, 1927 to Joseph and Beatrice Conway. A WWII veteran, Fran enlisted at the age of 17 and served in the U.S. Navy. An athlete throughout his life, Fran enjoyed volleyball, softball, racquetball, squash, and his true joy, sailing. Due to his hard work and Irish charm, Fran was a successful businessman. He was a sales manager to several CBS affiliates, retiring from KWTV in Oklahoma City. He created his own promotion company, working primarily with McDonald's on "Color The Weather" and worked as a consultant with Remington Park. Although he loved his work and always found ways to encourage others in their work, his heart was always with his family.Francis was preceded in death by his parents; his precious wife, Patricia Rodgers Conway; his brothers, Joseph and Jack; and three infant children. He is survived by his brother, Walt; his four daughters: Sharon Brown, and husband, Dr. Thomas Brown; Linda Hanna, and husband, Robert; Carey Friedrich, and husband, Dr. Thomas Friedrich; and Amy Wilson, and husband, Dr. Charles Wilson. He also leaves behind three sons: Dr. Michael Conway, and wife, Mimi; Terrance Conway, and wife, Nikki; and Patrick Conway, and wife, Valerie; as well as 19 grandchildren: Nicholas and Blair Brown; Alex, Matt, and Caitlin Friedrich; Ann, Casey, and Jimmy Conway; Abby and Chris Conway; Meghan, Kiley, Lindy, and Cassie Hanna; Sean and Jack Conway; and Sam, Jack, and Kate Wilson.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma at 1501 N. Classen Blvd., OKC, OK 73106 (www.catholiccharitiesok.org).Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service. www.catholiccharitiesok.org
