OKLAHOMA CITY
Jack Theodore Snoddy, 80, passed into another life on Nov. 22, 2020. He was born Dec. 24, 1939, to James M. & Lavonne Snoddy in Oklahoma City. He was educated in Oklahoma City Public Schools, where he graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1958. Subsequently, he matriculated to the School of Electrical Engineering at OSU, receiving his BS degree in May 1963. While at OSU, Jack met Barbara Boerstler and they were married in Aug. 1969. Jack was commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He received his MBA from Oklahoma City University in Aug. 1988. He rose to the rank of LTC and retired from the USAR in Dec. 1991. While on active duty from 1963-1966, Jack was assigned to the Army Security Agency and the U.S. Army Strategic Communications Command in Germany. Upon discharge from active duty, LTC Snoddy returned to Oklahoma City and served in various capacities with the 95th Div (TNG). Among other medals, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster. While at OSU, Jack developed a term paper entitled "Radio Communications via Satellites" which later became a training and operational document for the U.S. Army during Iraqi Freedom. In professional circles, Jack was a registered professional electrical engineer, reaching the title of fellow in June 2007. During his career, he was principally with OG&E and the Department of the Air Force at Tinker AFB. While at OG&E, he developed electrical distribution systems for numerous housing developments, apartment complexes, Crossroads Mall and The University of Oklahoma Medical Center. While at Tinker AFB, he developed the lighting and power systems for several hangers at Tinker. His last project prior to retirement was the development of the ground support systems for the F/A-22nd Raptor at Langley AFB, VA. In community service, Jack was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, the Oklahoma/National Society of Professional Engineers, Bethany Kiwanis Club and a life member of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce. In religious circles, Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of OKC and Bethany First Church of the Nazarene where he was active in SS and respective adult choirs of each. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Shirley Jane Snoddy Haines. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Ted (Beth) Snoddy, of Bethany; daughter, Jennifer Jane (Ronald Alan) Stanley, of Rockwall, TX; and five grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Carter, Alex, and Abigail. Viewing will be held on Friday, 12-9 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery. To share a memory or condolence, please visit www.mercer-adams.com
